
Don Aron Scholarship
The NCDEA Scholarship was established in the memory of Don Aron for his foresight of a National Conservation District Employees Association. Don worked to organize NCDEA, helped to establish Bylaws and served as the first President of NCDEA in 1992-1993.

OBJECTIVE
To provide financial support to a District Employee or member of their immediate family who is participating in a resource conservation curriculum while enrolled in an accredited college or university. Attainment of a degree is not required.
ELIGIBILITY
If the applicant is a District Employee, they must; (1) be currently employed for a period of one year by a Conservation District of the United States and; (2) have demonstrated integrity, ability, and competence in their work and possess skills gained through training or experience and; (3) provide information substantiating enrollment at an accredited college or university.
Otherwise, the applicant must; (1) be an immediate family member of a Conservation District employee and; (2) demonstrate an interest in soil and water conservation and have the intent to pursue a course of study in natural resource conservation and; (3) provide information substantiating enrollment at an accredited college or university. An immediate family member is defined as a spouse, child, parent, stepchild or stepparent. The scholarship is not available to the general public.
AMOUNT
Scholarship amount will be $1,000.00.
SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION
The annual scholarship recipient will be determined by the NCDEA Board and Officers, who will judge or designate the judge(s) of the applications to determine an awardee. The successful applicant will be notified within 45 days following the application deadline. The scholarship funds will be disbursed by NCDEA upon receipt of information substantiating course completion.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications for the scholarship may be downloaded, filled out, and submitted to timothy.riley@ncdea.org. The deadline to submit is March 15 of each calendar year.
